TWO DINNERS AND A LUNCH (No weddings or funerals)

My social calendar was a little crowded last week with two dinners on two consecutive nights and then a lunch the day after. Boom! There goes the diet.

PLAYGROUP DINNER

Twice a year the playgroup mothers of the 70's get together for a girl's night out at a restaurant. We discuss the worlds problems and our travels. We catch up with marriages of our children and births of grandchildren and how they are all doing... blah blah blah. We share photos too of course...brag brag brag. And we all had a delicious Thai dinner. It was a good night out.

U3A DINNER

The following night it was the Logan Branch of the University of the Third Age dinner at a chinese restaurant. It was a good way to get to know people doing other classes than the one we attend (Camera Club). Not everyone came to the dinner but it was interesting listening to other people's stories and interests. Some of the subjects offered in Logan are Mah Jong, Psychology, Walking, Writing, Computers, Painting, Tai Che, English, Genealogy, Philosophy, Bible Study, Yoga, German, Spanish, Calligraphy and Camera Club.

Next post is Lunch with Birthday Bear, guess how he'll be dressed for George's birthday this time?

  1. Diane, it is wonderful your group of mothers of the 70's are still meeting for a girls night out. It sounds like a lot of fun. You do have a busy social calendar. Great shots of both groups and get togethers. I 'm sure the food was delicious too.

  2. oh well, you had to have fun so now you can jump back on the diet. looks like a fun group in both shots. i should look into the courses here. might do that. i don't even remember the names of my neighbors back in the 70's and never was in a play group. i think you mean your children played together? that is a lot of women. have you lived in the same place all these years or do all these women come from different places? i don't even know this many women. what fun

  3. If it's Thai...I'm sure I would ditch the diet, too! I've just recently yielded to the lure of this tasty food! I can't seem to get enough of it!

  6. What fun! It's almost like having a Birthday Season, having so many dinners and luncheons on your busy social schedule.

I am looking forward to the Birthday Bear post. I think your birthday Bear was an inspired idea and I love to see the new costumes as they appear.

  7. You don't need to worry about diets at all, Diane! Amazing that you're still in regular contact with your children's playgroup mothers and it's such a large group, too! That's quite something :)

Loooking forward to Birthday Bear's next appearance. I know I should be able to guess, but I'd have to read through all the posts featuring George to discover his interests. No time for that now, I'm afraid, so I'll throw out a wild card and say "fisherman" ;)

  10. Those friendships formed as young mums are very special. There's nothing nicer than a gathering of old friends. Glad to hear that you had such nice groups to chat with! Enjoy your week!

  11. I love special dinner gatherings like this. Those friendships are too important to lose. It looks like you all had a great time. I still get together with college girlfriends, the other dance moms, book club, etc...

  12. It is 3.46 a.m. in my part of the world and I am too snuffly to sleep, so thought I would pop on over and I am glad I did. Enjoyed your post and photos today, lovely to get together with friends. Thanks for letting me know that my poem did not show. I have gone back and lightened all the font and it is now there if you would like to take a look. It is a funny poem that I think you might enjoy.

  13. I like get togethers with "girls" and catch up with all happenings. It must be an international women idea. When I am in England, I go out with Anne's friends and I have the same here with friends. We all think chatting is much better without men :) !
