MOOCHING AROUND MAROOCHYDORE

We visited our friends new home at Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast north of Brisbane. They have moved into an over 50's Gateway Lifestyle community and we went to see what it was like. We were pleasantly surprised. They have a nice three bedroom house with ensuite and everything they need. Their deck looks over parkland and a lagoon.

We walked across the road to the river.

It was a dull day and looked like rain any minute.

We stayed overnight and played cards. In the morning we couldn't go walking and exploring because it was raining heavily. So we sat on the deck and played more cards and looked at the pretty back yard.
The rain was dancing on the lagoon.

Soon we had to make our way home. It poured heavy rain all the way. It was an awful drive home.

  1. From my friend, Maureen:
You evidently picked the wrong time to sisit Maroochydore. It certainly rained all day . 30 mls here but it was lovely rain and we needed it. I certainly prefer the North Coast to the South coast these days. Even quiet little Bribie is getting pretty crowded. Cheers M

  2. No complaints from me on our rain. To see the happy pictures of the outback rural
people is so wondrous - as long as "Heuy" does a good back-up in Feb or early March.
The Retired lifestyle place looks idyllic to move to.
    Lovely photos as always.
    Cheers

  5. So the rain did arrive. It is due to go away from here tomorrow.

I like the idea of a house in a nice setting like that when I am older.

  7. Hello, sounds like your friends have a wonderful new place. That is what I am looking for a 55+ community. I would love the lagoon outside, very nice. Sorry the rain was a damper. Enjoy your day!

  9. What a beautiful place your friends have moved to. It all looks so spacious - even the grounds are vast. Oh I wish you could send a little rain. So very hot and dry in SA. Thanks for the tip of dragging my photos across to blogger. I'll try it. Jo xx

  11. What a pity the rain spoilt your further exploration. However, it certainly does look to be a delightful location - I hope your friends are enjoying it.

  12. Looks like a lovely place to retire. Diane I still feel terrible. Coughing all night and lack of sleep is taking its toll. It is only a week but it feels like a lifetime to me at the moment! Take care t'other Diane

  17. MAROOCHYDORE - Australia has the best place names! Your friends have a peaceful place full of beauty to spend their retirement years. There are many of those age restricted places here in the US south as retired people come from all over to get away from winters now that they don't need to have a job. I like to live with all ages so we won't be looking for that type of community, but some people love it.

  18. This looks like a wonderful community. It's too bad about all the rain.

  19. Lovely photos Diane. A three bedroom house in one of those communities sounds nice...most around Brisbane only seem to offer 2 bedroom.
