BEAUTIFUL BRISBANE

I'm probably biased but I think Brisbane is a beautiful city.
New Farm Park roads are lined with Jacaranda trees. We were lucky to find a parking spot even at 9:00am but it was a Sunday and there was a charity run event on too. The park covers 38 acres and was opened in 1919. It includes picnic areas, cricket pitches, croquet and football fields.

Jacaranda is a native to Central America, South America, Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica and the Bahamas. It has been introduced to most tropical and subtropical countries. It is common in South Africa and Australia.

We drove to New Farm Park and then caught the City Cat to the city.

  2. Our Jacaranda bloom so much later that yours. They are quite some tree. I am puzzled as to how you get to New Farm Park from the south and catch the ferry. The Clem 7? Is that the best way for suburban residents to get to the city?

  7. How I miss Jacarandas, Salisbury, Rhodesia was full of them and we had one street that was white, blue, white, blue down the full length. We had a white jacaranda in our garden when we left and I was loathe to leave it behind! Of course Pretoria in RSA is also called the Jacaranda city. Have a good week t'other Diane

  12. The trees are gorgeous. They grow down in south Florida - Miami and Ft. Lauderdale areas. It gets too cool here in Central Florida. Oh, I wish I could have one!

  15. The jacarandas are glorious Diane, I'm not sure if they're flowering here yet. Brisbane looks about the same size as Perth from your cityscape here, a nice sized city! Loved your shots of St. John's Cathedral last post, it's amazing how long you can live somewhere and never get to see everything ☺

  16. Oh dear. For 10 years at this time I would be admiring the beauty of the Jacoranda Trees up our drive and on the streets of Napier (New Zealand). I miss that. Ho hum.

    2. That is a shame but I guess we all slow down eventually. Those long haul flights are a killer.

Sounds like you had a wonderful trip (or trips) lately... I'm sure you are enjoying some SPRING down there. We are going into winter --but so far, with our heat and drought, it still feels like SUMMER up here. ha
